A Vietnamese Canadian dancer and actor, Mickey Nguyen, got his first break as he collaborated with the infamous Youtuber Lilly Singh in 2010. This Vietnamese descent artist was born in Toronto; his mother was a Siagonese while his dad lived in Hue. He pursued acting and dancing at the Randolph Academy for performing arts.

Although living miles away from Vietnam, he sets his favorites on Vietnamese cuisine. His mother cooks traditional food like Bánh Xèo while he loves to drink Sinh Tố Sầu Riêng – a durian milkshake. They preserve some of its cultures like home meals and speaking the Vietnamese language.

Dancing was once his hobby; he wanted to be a doctor. However, he pursued dancing professionally. In his spare time, he teaches at multiple studios around the city every week. He gets inspired by the young people who make progress.

Landing on a role for Utopia Falls, the star took a giant leap toward the film industry. He plays the role of Mags 2, an Exemplar candidate from the Reform Sector. It is a scientific drama series created by Joseph Mallozzi and R.T. Thorne. In a futuristic timeline, the twenty-four chosen teenagers from the last living colony – a battle for the Exemplar.

The Life of a Vietnamese Virtuoso Away from His Home Country

The Stay, My Beloved Vietnamese artist Tuan-An Tran debuted his album last April 18, 2020 by Frameworks Records Firm ( Sony/ The Orchard). He is born in 1992 and currently resides in the United States. Captivated by Vietnamese folk music, he plans to introduce Vietnamese music to an international audience.

Love and passion are what inspire Tran to connect his music with the people. He has a great appreciation for traditional folk songs that he likes the world needs to hear. The success of his tour motivates the young artist to introduce his music to a diverse audience.

His song arrangements carry stories like the piece based on Thánh Gióng – a traditional folk tale. It is a fourteen-minute structured song that progresses from a lullaby-like harmony to a tension movement. Songs can reminisce memories from the past. Just like his songs, he remembers most of his childhood together with his mom and dad holding him.

While living abroad, he preserves Vietnamese culture through immersion in a community filled with Vietnamese people to bond. He also cooks Vietnamese cuisine together with his wife and celebrates occasions like Tet and Moon Festival.

An online platform such as social media is his way of promoting his album.
